[GLOBAL economic times]  Hyundai Motor Company's luxury brand Genesis will launch the GV70 electrified partially modified model within the year. The new car strengthens its marketability as an electric vehicle by increasing the battery capacity and increasing the driving range.

Genesis is in the process of new car certification for the launch of the mid-sized sports utility vehicle (SUV) GV70 electric vehicle version 'GV70 electrified partial change model'.

According to Ministry of Environment certification data, the battery capacity of the GV70 electric partially modified model was increased from the existing 77.4 kWh to 84 kWh. As the battery has grown, the driving range per full charge has increased by more than 20 km compared to the existing model.

The GV70 electric partially modified model has 19-inch tires and a combined driving distance of 423 km (448 km in the city, 393 km on the highway) at room temperature. Based on 20-inch tires, it is 405 km (432 km in the city, 372 km on the highway).

It is known that the main specifications of the powertrain (PE system), including the electric motor, are the same as before. It is equipped with a dual motor system that produces a total power of 320kW, combining 160kW for the front wheels and 160kW for the rear wheels. It is also equipped with a permanent all-wheel drive (AWD) system and e-terrain mode.

It supports up to 400V·800V multi-charging system and enhances efficiency with a reducer, regenerative braking, heat pump, and battery heating system. A boost mode that instantly increases output is also provided.

The overall design is similar to the GV70 internal combustion engine model released in May. The exterior completes a clear impression with newly renovated two-line headlamps using MLA (Micro Lens Array) technology. The electric model differentiates itself from the internal combustion engine model by adopting a new closed grille.

The interior improves visibility by adopting a 27-inch integrated wide display that combines the cluster (instrument panel) and infotainment system into one. Convenience is improved by adding a touch-type air conditioning control system.

The price of the GV70 electric partially modified model is expected to increase slightly to reflect battery upgrades and improved marketability. The current model is being sold for 73.32 million won with tax benefits applied.

Meanwhile, Genesis is reorganizing its product line by releasing partial changes to three electrified models by next year. Following the introduction of the G80 electrified partial modification model last month, sales of the GV70 electrified partial modification model will begin within the year. A partially modified model of the GV60 is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of next year.
