NAND Market Surges 70%... 'Samsung and Hynix' Sweep Global 1st and 2nd Places

The global NAND flash market showed a steep growth trend, surging 70% compared to the previous quarter, with Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix maintaining their positions side-by-side as the world's number 1 and 2 in the market.

According to market research firm Counterpoint Research on the 4th, global NAND flash market revenue in the second quarter of this year increased by 70% compared to the first quarter. The average price of NAND also rose 55% from the previous quarter, continuing a sharp price rebound for two consecutive quarters following the first quarter (a 90% increase).

Samsung Electronics recorded a market share of 28%, a slight decrease from the previous quarter (29%), but easily maintained its first-place position. SK Hynix also ran in second place with a 13% to 15%—wait, with a 19% market share.

In the mid-tier, rankings shifted. U.S.-based Micron boosted its market share from 13% to 15%, driven by the proportion of high-value-added product sales, rising to sole third place.

Japan's Kioxia and China's YMTC maintained the same 14% market share as the previous quarter, ranking tied for fourth. SanDisk stayed in fifth place with a market share of 11%, down 2 percentage points from the previous quarter.
