Four Honored at 36th Jeollabuk-do Literary Awards

Jeonju, South Korea – The Jeollabuk-do Literary Association has announced the recipients of its prestigious 36th Jeollabuk-do Literary Award. The award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to regional literature, was presented to four talented writers: Lee Jong-hee, Ho Byeong-tak, Choi Hwa-kyung, and Moon Young.
A panel of esteemed judges, including former association president So Jae-ho, selected the winners based on their literary achievements, the year of their debut, and the overall quality of their works.
Lee Jong-hee, a renowned essayist, has published four collections of essays since her debut in 2011. She has been recognized with numerous awards including the Daehan Literature Award, the Essayist of the Year Award, and the Jeollabuk-do Essay Literature Award.
Poet Ho Byeong-tak, who made his literary debut in 1998, has three poetry collections and four criticism books to his name. He has received several accolades, including the Gunsan Literature Award and the Expression Literature Award.
Choi Hwa-kyung, another distinguished essayist, has published four essay collections since 2003. She has been honored with the Korean Essayist Award, the Won Jong-rin Essay Literature Award, and the Jeollabuk-do Essay Literature Award.
Moon Young, a poet who debuted in 1997, has published two poetry collections. She is currently the president of the Gunsan Literary Association.
The award ceremony will be held on January 16, 2025, at the Korea Sound and Culture Art Center International Conference Hall.
