“We will create a Soraepogu where fresh seafood is traded transparently, making it a place people can trust and visit.”

Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, citizens continued to visit to purchase seafood. Merchants were busy explaining seafood prices and conditions to customers.

On this day, the opening ceremony of the ‘Soraepogu On-Site Support Center’ was held on the 2nd floor of the fish market. This space was prepared by Namdong-gu to improve Soraepogu's image and establish fair trading practices.

The center is responsible for receiving customer complaints and improvement suggestions from around 600 seafood stores in the Soraepogu area and forwarding them to relevant departments. It will also form a regular consultative body with the merchant association to discuss ways to revitalize the commercial district and improve illegal and unfair trading practices.

Mayor Park Chan-dae, who attended the opening ceremony, diagnosed, “Considering its location and fresh seafood alone, Soraepogu is a place that could perhaps be evaluated as the best fish market in the country,” adding, “Sometimes its image seems to be damaged by overcharging or negative press reports.”

He continued, “I hope that the on-site support center will not just remain a customer service window, but a space where merchants and citizens communicate to revitalize Soraepogu,” and promised, “Incheon City will continue its efforts until Soraepogu becomes the best fish market.”

Afterward, Mayor Park walked around the fish market, purchasing various foods such as crabs, shrimp, and dried fish using the Incheon e-Um card, and exchanged warm greetings with merchants and citizens.

At the site, merchants expressed expectations for sales recovery as the cash-back payments for Incheon e-Um recently resumed. One merchant said, “With the Incheon e-Um benefits reintroduced right in time for the Chuseok holiday, many customers are utilizing it.”

Mayor Park stated, “Incheon’s proud Incheon e-Um has resumed,” adding, “Especially with generous limit amounts prepared ahead of Chuseok, I hope citizens use it a lot to help revitalize the commercial district.”

That afternoon, Mayor Park sequentially visited the Incheon Harbor Vessel Traffic Service Center, Yonghyeon Market, Juan 119 Safety Center, Incheon Terminal, and the Loneliness Counseling Call Center to inspect the sites and encourage workers.
