First Outcome of Attracting Public Institutions to the Greater Seoul Area: Korea National Agency of Fisheries and Fishing Villages (FIPA) West Sea Branch Office Opening Ceremony Held

 

The Korea National Agency of Fisheries and Fishing Villages (FIPA) West Sea Branch Office, which settled in Naepo New Town for the development of fishing villages and ports in the West Sea and is the first outcome of Chungnam's successful attraction of public institutions from the Greater Seoul Area during the 8th popular election, has officially opened.

The provincial government announced that an opening ceremony was held on the 10th at the Korea National Agency of Fisheries and Fishing Villages West Sea Branch Office (Gwangmyeong Hesed 2nd Floor, 20 Cheongsaro 150beongil, Hongbuk-eup, Hongseong-gun), with approximately 60 attendees including Governor Kim Tae-heum, FIPA Chairman Hong Jong-wook, West Sea Branch Director Go Jeong-wook, and Hongseong County Mayor Lee Yong-rok.

The Korea National Agency of Fisheries and Fishing Villages (FIPA) is a key public institution in the fisheries and fishing village sector, leading the development of fishing villages and ports through national fishing port management, aquaculture industry promotion, and capacity building for fishermen. It consists of a Seoul headquarters, 4 headquarters, and 2 project divisions.

The West Sea Branch Office, which opened on this day, will oversee Chungnam, Gyeonggi, and Incheon with △36 regular staff members △3 teams (Fishing Port Safety Team, Fishing Village and Port Regeneration Team, Fisheries Business Team) △3 centers (Incheon Fishing Village Specialization Support Center, Return to Fishing Village and Farming Support Center, Chungnam Fishing Village Specialization Support Center).

Chungnam-linked projects amount to 294.7 billion won across 12 areas, including △Fishing Village New Deal Project △Fishing Village New Vitality Promotion Project △Clean Fishery Ground Regeneration Project △Mass Production Facility for Sea Cucumbers △Return to Fishing Village and Farming Support Center △National Fishing Port Management △Aquaculture Farm Rental Business △Productivity Improvement of Coastal and Offshore Fishing Grounds △Fishing Village Workation.

Governor Kim stated, "Until now, FIPA branch offices only existed in the East Sea, South Sea, and Jeju, but with the establishment of a West Sea office, we can finally cover all three sides of the sea. Now, by working closely with the provincial government, we can accelerate the development of the West Coast's fisheries and fishing villages even further."

He then added, "I sincerely welcome all the staff of the West Sea Branch Office who have become part of the Chungnam family. We will further accelerate the development of Naepo New Town, including the relocation of public institutions from the Greater Seoul Area, so that you will want to stay in Naepo New Town for a long time."
