BANDUNG, INDONESIA — In a significant move aimed at strengthening its logistics network in Southeast Asia’s largest economy, DHL Express has announced the strategic relocation of its service center from Cihampelas to a new, state-of-the-art facility in Bandung, West Java. Historically, the focus of global supply chain resilience has been on Indonesia’s neighbors. However, Mohamad pointed out that Indonesia’s vast potential remains largely untapped. The country boasts a massive domestic market and a skilled workforce, supported by government initiatives like the National Logistics Ecosystem (NLE) which aim to modernize the sector. DHL's focus extends beyond Jakarta, with promising growth opportunities identified in key regional cities such as Surabaya, Semarang, Batam, and Bali, which are emerging as strategic alternatives for businesses seeking to diversify their supply chains.

Indonesia's appeal as a global trade hub is multifaceted. The nation is not only attracting a growing number of international brands but is also a fertile ground for local brands expanding their global footprint. Its strategic location and active involvement in 12 major bilateral and multilateral trade agreements, including the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP)—the world’s largest free trade agreement—further solidify its position.

Nicholas Bongsosartono, President Director of DHL Global Forwarding, shared an optimistic outlook, projecting that Indonesia will be among the top 30 nations with the fastest and largest trade growth over the next five years. "Indonesia's dynamic economy, propelled by rapid digital transformation and strategic infrastructure investments, presents tremendous opportunities," Bongsosartono explained. While acknowledging the challenges posed by geopolitical tensions and volatile global trade patterns, he emphasized that these headwinds only reinforce the need for robust and agile logistics solutions.
