Asunción, Paraguay - Paraguay continues to attract significant foreign investment through its Law 60/90, a key driver of the country's economic growth. As of October, the country has secured 21 new investment projects totaling $21.4 million.
The textile and apparel, electrical and electronics, and grain production and storage sectors accounted for a combined 60% of total investment, making them the most attractive sectors for investors.
Overall, Paraguay attracted $315 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) from January to October, representing a 5% increase compared to the same period last year. Domestic investment also grew by 4% to reach $202 million, while foreign investment rose by 6% to $113 million.
Investments were concentrated in five regions: Central, Alto Paraná, Canindeyú, Paraguarí, and the capital city. These regions, with their proximity to Brazil and Argentina, serve as strategic logistics hubs.
The influx of investment has had a positive impact on job creation. As of October, investments under Law 60/90 have generated 5,010 new jobs, a 145% increase compared to the same period last year. Employment growth was particularly strong in the food, plastics, textiles and apparel, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, and grain production and storage sectors.
Paraguay's success in attracting foreign investment through Law 60/90 has been instrumental in driving economic growth and creating jobs. By fostering a favorable investment climate, the country is poised to attract even more foreign investment and sustain its economic momentum.
