Marking the 2nd anniversary of the launch of its home appliance subscription service, Samsung Electronics is expanding its business, which has traditionally focused on individual customers, to newlywed couples, seniors, and corporate clients.
Samsung Electronics announced on the 28th that it will segment subscription services according to customer life stages and lifestyles, and newly launch 'B2B Samsung AI Subscription' for corporate customers.
First, it is expanding 'Blue Pass', where experts manage subscribed products, and introducing the 'Newlywed Pass' for newlyweds and single-person households, and the 'Easy Care Pass' for senior customers.
Blue Pass is a management service provided to customers using Samsung Electronics' 'AI All-in-One 2.0 Plan', offering AI proactive care notifications, SmartThings setup, time-matched installation, same-day delivery and installation, and AS fast-track services.
The Newlywed Pass includes an 'Moving Peace of Mind Inspection' where a professional engineer checks the operating status of home appliances after moving.
It also provides 'Furniture Restoration' to restore furniture cabinets after installing and removing dishwashers and robot vacuum cleaners, as well as a 'Time-Matched Cleaning' service where a professional cleaning team visits during nights and holidays for customers who find it difficult to visit during weekday daytime hours.
The Easy Care Pass for senior customers focuses on enhancing the usability of AI home appliances. It provides a 'Peace of Mind Care Call' where a counselor regularly calls to guide customers on replacing consumables and how to use products, and also operates a dedicated counseling channel for seniors.
Products with lowered subscription fee burdens are also being added. Following the existing free repair, visit care, and self-care options, Samsung Electronics will introduce 'Visit Care Lite' starting in November.
Visit Care Lite lowers the monthly subscription fee instead of reducing the number of professional engineer visits or specialized service visits depending on the product type and management method.
For example, if you subscribe to the 'Bespoke AI Wind-Free Combo Gallery Pro' air conditioner with a 6-year contract and select Visit Care Lite, the monthly subscription fee drops by more than 10% from 92,000 won to 82,000 won compared to the existing visit care.
Samsung Electronics is also expanding its subscription business, which has been centered on individual customers, into the corporate market. The newly launched 'B2B Samsung AI Subscription' targets public institutions, hotels, medical institutions, and financial companies. It reduces the burden of initial investment costs when companies introduce home appliances in bulk while providing management services such as up to 6 years of free AS.
Corporate customers will be provided with a separate 'B2B Blue Pass'. B2B specialized engineers from Samsung Electronics Service and Samsung Electronics Logistics manage products according to each company's environment, providing time-matched intensive care, 48-hour emergency dispatch, dedicated engineer systems, and 'one more' services.
Financial companies operating branches nationwide can have products managed across multiple branches all at once after business hours, and hospitals or medical facilities can use the dispatch service within 48 business days (Note: business hours/days) after registering for AS.
This overhaul is interpreted as Samsung Electronics' move to expand its profit structure into a service business that encompasses installation, management, and repair, moving away from simple home appliance sales.
In the case of high-priced AI home appliances, as purchase burdens increase and product replacement cycles lengthen, the subscription method of paying a certain amount over a long period while utilizing management services is establishing itself as a new sales channel in the home appliance industry.
To mark the 2nd anniversary of the subscription service launch, Samsung Electronics is also running price promotions. Until October 31, subscription benefits of up to 20% level will be provided at online and offline stores such as Samsung.com, Samsung Store, and Electronics Land.
If you subscribe to eligible products such as the Bespoke AI Family Hub Refrigerator, Bespoke AI Combo Washer-Dryer, and Bespoke AI Steam Ultra Robot Vacuum Cleaner, you will receive membership points equivalent to up to 6 months of subscription fees, additional points equivalent to 5% of the subscription fee, and a 5% discount on the total subscription fee.
Customers using Samsung AI Subscription for the first time who subscribe to 2 or more products together receive up to a 5% discount, and bundling multiple products provides Samsung Electronics membership points worth up to 6 million won depending on the number of items.
Existing subscription customers adding a new product receive an additional discount of up to 3%. The prepayment ratio is also expanded from a maximum of 30% to 50%. Customers who prepay 40% or 50% can receive an additional 5% discount on the total subscription fee.
Lim Sung-taek, Executive Vice President and Head of Korea Sales at Samsung Electronics, said, "We will continue Blue Pass innovations that take responsibility for the entire subscription process from sales to delivery, installation, and repair, and provide differentiated subscription experiences with Samsung AI home appliances."
