On March 14th, at 4:30 PM, the SFP&SV Korean Chamber of Commerce (President Seung-deok Jung) held a roundtable discussion with Houston Consul General Jung Young-ho at the Chamber of Commerce meeting room in Burlingame, with approximately 20 executives and members in attendance.

During the meeting, Consul General Jung announced that the "Korea-U.S. Bio Forum" will be held in Texas for two days and one night from June 11th to 12th. This forum, prepared by the Houston Consulate and the local medical center for two years, is expected to be an important venue for envisioning the future bio-industry in the United States.

Consul General Jung emphasized the importance of collaboration and networking among local Korean businesspeople, mentioning participation in the 23rd World Korean Business Convention, and stated, "Although Korean businesspeople in each region are mostly small and medium-sized enterprises, their image has changed significantly through events like the World Korean Business Convention. Now, an era has opened where synergy can be maximized through collaboration."

He also stressed the importance of actively utilizing "strong points" in San Francisco and Silicon Valley through cooperation with Korean companies, emphasizing that networking between startups and local businesspeople is essential for this. "If you succeed in Korea, you are likely to succeed here as well. Success stories can be created not only in the restaurant industry but also in various fields such as cosmetics and bio," he explained, particularly noting that an era has come where the fusion of bio and cosmetics, like Korean mask packs, is crucial.

Furthermore, he emphasized that local Korean businesspeople should create matching funds to support Korean companies entering the U.S. market, advising, "Investment funds brought from Korea alone are insufficient, so they must be supplemented through collaboration."

He also added that it is important to continuously expand relationships with mainstream U.S. economic organizations and to discover various ideas through collaboration with the economic and science consuls at the regional consulate general.

Meanwhile, Consul General Jung Young-ho has published a book titled "I am Texas' No. 1 Salesman," based on his experience as a diplomat, sharing practical business strategies and experiences. This book has received much attention and is selling well since its publication.
