The "Chungnam Outstanding Markets Fair," where visitors can experience outstanding products from traditional markets and shopping districts throughout Chungcheongnam-do in one place, has officially opened its doors.
The province announced that it held the opening ceremony for the Chungcheongnam-do Outstanding Markets Fair on the 23rd at the Seosan Sports Complex parking lot area.
Co-hosted and organized by the province, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Seosan City, and the Chungnam Merchants Association, the event is taking place for three days through the 25th.
A total of 25 traditional markets and shopping districts from across the country participated in this fair, including 22 from Chungnam, one from Daejeon, one from Sejong, and one from Gyeongsangbuk-do.
The venue features a total of 50 booths—including 37 exhibition and sales booths, 10 food markets, and three experience and PR booths—showcasing outstanding regional products and traditional markets while providing visitors with a variety of foods and hands-on experiences.
Additionally, live-streamed shopping broadcasts and other programs are being operated to support product promotion and the expansion of sales channels.
The province anticipates that this fair will serve as an opportunity to vitalize exchanges among traditional markets, broaden sales channels for quality products, and inject fresh vitality into local commercial districts.
Attended by Administrative Vice Governor Hong Jong-wan, key VIPs, traditional market merchants, and small business owners, the opening ceremony featured merit awards, congratulatory remarks, a commemorative ceremony, and a tour of the exhibition grounds.
Following the opening ceremony, Vice Governor Hong toured the exhibition and sales booths as well as the food market, encouraging the merchants and listening to their on-site perspectives.
"Traditional markets are the center of the local economy, embracing regional history and culture and sustaining the livelihood of everyday citizens," Vice Governor Hong stated. "We hope this fair widely promotes the excellent products and unique charms of traditional markets, serving as a harmonious festival where merchants and provincial residents come together."
