London, UK – Speculation continues to swirl around the future of Son Heung-min (33), the star forward for Tottenham Hotspur.

British sports outlet GiveMeSport reported on February 11th (Korean time) that Tottenham is seriously considering parting ways with some of its key players at the end of the season, with Son being a potential target.

According to the report, Tottenham could free up approximately £445,000 (about ₩800 million) in weekly wages by offloading Son, along with Richarlison and Timo Werner. This could be one way to secure the funds needed to permanently acquire Mathys Tel, who is currently on loan from Bayern Munich.

"Letting go of Son would be a significant decision for the club," the outlet analyzed. "If interested clubs emerge, a transfer could become a real possibility."

Adding fuel to the fire, Tottenham-focused news site TottenhamHotspurNews reported that Saudi Pro League clubs have been consistently expressing interest in Son. "If Saudi clubs make official offers, it is highly likely that Tottenham will seriously consider them," the site predicted.

However, Tottenham could face a backlash from fans if they decide to sell Son.

"Tottenham has been focusing on signing young players but has not been performing as expected," TottenhamHotspurNews pointed out. "If they let go of Son in this situation, Chairman Daniel Levy will find it difficult to avoid fan protests."

Meanwhile, Tottenham is having a disappointing season, currently sitting 14th in the Premier League.

Their recent form has been dismal, with a 0-4 defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg on February 7th, resulting in a 1-4 aggregate loss and elimination from the competition. They also crashed out of the FA Cup in the third round with a 1-2 loss to Aston Villa.

The UEFA Europa League remains the only competition left for Tottenham this season, but given the team's current struggles, even that seems like a daunting challenge.
