The Sejong City Culture and Tourism Foundation (CEO Park Young-guk) announced that the "Sejong Street Artists Concert," held from the 9th to the 10th at the Floating Stage Island of Sejong Lake Park, concluded with great success, featuring performances by 16 teams of Sejong street artists and drawing around 4,500 citizens.
Held in alignment with the Sejong Hangul Festival period, this concert was designed to showcase a diverse range of performances by Sejong street artists who have been active across various locations in Sejong City, all in one place through the "Street Hangul Culture Festival."
The event drew attention by presenting collaborative stages across various genres such as pop music, bands, and classical music, alongside unique collaborations between Sejong street artists. Joint performances—including a collaboration among the traditional Korean music team "Batu," fusion gugak team "Sunmyeong," and fusion gugak/hip-hop team "Yongyongteuldae," as well as a joint stage by the brass team "Barn Brass" and the classical team "Quartet Is"—blended the unique characteristics of each team while offering fresh visual and auditory spectacles, earning enthusiastic responses from the audience.
In addition, various citizen-participation events were operated to commemorate Hangul Day, such as Hangul initial consonant quizzes and leaving messages of support for Sejong street artists. By adding programs that allowed citizens to directly participate and enjoy, the event heightened the fun of watching performances and provided a meaningful time to reflect on the significance of Hangul.
Yang Yoo-jung, Director of the Hangul Culture City Center, stated, "Following the Book Love Festival in the first half of the year, it is deeply meaningful to have expanded cultural and artistic enjoyment opportunities for citizens through this concert linked with the Sejong Hangul Festival. We will continue to support the expansion of performance stages for local artists and ensure that citizens can enjoy culture and arts close to their daily lives."
