Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do is holding the 11th Gangjin Bay Dancing Reed Festival around the Gangjin Bay Ecological Park from the 24th until November 1st. This festival offers visitors special memories and a break from daily life against the backdrop of endlessly spread golden reed fields and autumn sunsets.
Walking spaces and photo zones where visitors can fully enjoy the autumn ambiance with endless reeds have been set up throughout the festival grounds. Visitors can admire reeds dancing in the wind amidst the wide scenery of Gangjin Bay and enjoy leisure away from daily routines.
In particular, spaces where families, couples, and friends can leave memories together have been created so people can stay and rest in nature. Visitors can witness the beauty of golden reed fields during the day and autumn scenery harmonized with Gangjin Bay's sunset around dusk.
One of the key programs, the "Gangjin Bay Eco-Expedition," is an ecological experience program where children and families get closer to nature, exploring stories of various living organisms and the natural environment in wetlands and mudflats. Participants act as expedition members to examine the festival grounds and ecological park, finding traces of life in reed beds and wetlands. They meet representative creatures of Gangjin Bay like tundra swans and mudskippers, naturally learning why migratory birds, mudflats, and wetlands are precious.
This festival aims to be an eco-friendly event that protects a beautiful natural environment and coexists with nature. This year's festival operates experience programs that add new values to discarded resources, allowing children and family visitors to easily and enjoyably experience resource circulation and environmental protection. Participants create their own works using easily discarded daily materials, naturally learning that small actions can be the starting point of protecting the environment. Furthermore, waste separation and eco-friendly operations are strengthened within the festival grounds.
The Ecological Experience Center and Promotional Hall inside the park deliver deeper stories of the Gangjin Bay ecosystem. The promotional hall deals with natural monuments and endangered wild animals and plants, while the experience center offers four-season ecological contents, virtual experience facilities, and indoor bird-watching spaces so children and families can understand the natural environment engagingly.
This festival is also a participatory event where local residents join and enjoy together alongside tourists. Residents directly participate in stages and programs to showcase their talents, creating a space for communication and harmony across generations.
In addition, a kids' zone where children can play freely and exciting performances tailored to children's eye levels are operated, building a family-friendly environment. Gangjin-gun Mayor Kang Jin-won stated that the Gangjin Bay Dancing Reed Festival will be a warm festival where children, parents, and families can communicate together and build autumn memories, expecting everyone to fully enjoy the best and largest eco-festival on the south coast.
