Gyeongsangbuk-do's Native Fish Industrialization Center announced that it will host the "2026 Second-Half Inland Fisheries Professional Training Program" for two days, starting from the 28th to the 29th.
The training targets approximately 60 participants, including current inland fishermen, prospective return-to-sea and rural migrants, and aspiring entrepreneurs. It aims to provide specialized knowledge in aquaculture technology and related industries to help trainees stably settle into inland fisheries and acquire the practical competencies needed for starting a business.
On the first day, lectures will cover the understanding of aquaponics systems as well as inland aquaculture and related industry startup planning. Following the lectures, participants will visit the Inland Ornamental Fish Business Center to tour ornamental fish breeding facilities.
On the second day, a loach (miguri) aquaculture farm owner will present a case study, sharing hands-on field experience and operational methods. This will be followed by education on the management of formulated feed for inland aquaculture and a tour of the breeding facilities at the Native Fish Industrialization Center.
Nam Geon, Director of the Oceans and Fisheries Bureau of Gyeongsangbuk-do, stated, "Through this training, we expect participants to acquire the professional knowledge needed in the field, such as aquaculture technology and feed management, and to practically utilize it in fishery management and business startups." He added, "We will continue to pursue various initiatives to train inland fishery professionals, preserve native fish resources, and vitalize related industries."
