Seoul, South Korea – Domestic automakers are gearing up to launch a slew of new electric SUVs in a bid to revitalize the sagging domestic market. With a focus on sustainability and performance, these vehicles are expected to attract environmentally conscious consumers and stimulate sales.

Hyundai Motor is set to introduce the Ionic 9 in the first quarter of this year, followed by a full-scale launch in the second quarter. Initially unveiled in the United States last November, the Ionic 9 is expected to make waves in the domestic market as well. Compared to its sibling, the Kia EV9, the Ionic 9 boasts a larger body, offering more interior space and enhancing its practicality as a large electric SUV. While the exact pricing has not been disclosed, the Ionic 9 is poised to inject new life into South Korea's large electric SUV segment.

In addition to the Ionic 9, Hyundai will also unveil the successor to its Nexo fuel cell electric vehicle in the first half of this year. The company previously showcased a concept model, the 'Initium,' hinting at a significant design overhaul. The new Nexo is expected to offer an impressive range of 650 kilometers on a single charge and a maximum output of 150 kilowatts.

Kia Motors is also joining the electric SUV race with several new models. The EV5, a compact electric SUV that has already sold over 10,000 units in China, will make its debut in the domestic market. Given its success in the highly competitive Chinese market, the EV5 is expected to perform well in South Korea. Furthermore, Kia will launch a fully redesigned Seltos, which will include a hybrid option for the first time, expanding the company's eco-friendly vehicle lineup.

General Motors' Korean subsidiary is planning to introduce the Chevrolet Equinox EV, a mid-sized electric SUV. The company has already obtained domestic certification for the Equinox EV, confirming its range of [insert certified range here] kilometers on a single charge.

Renault Korea will also join the fray with the launch of the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric, a compact electric SUV.

"Domestic automakers are aggressively launching new electric SUVs to revive sales," said an industry official. "These vehicles are expected to overcome the temporary slowdown in electric vehicle demand and have a positive impact on overall sales."
