Bucheon City announced that it appointed actor Lee Ki-young as its goodwill ambassador at a meeting room in Bucheon City Hall on the 13th. With actor Lee Ki-young, who has built strong public recognition in the field of arts and culture, stepping up as an ambassador, the city is set to gain momentum in promoting Bucheon as a cultural city.
Actor Lee Ki-young has been beloved by the public for showcasing distinct characters across a wide range of works, including the films Marathon and A Bittersweet Life, dramas such as Giant and Vagabond, and most recently, 100 Days of Lies.
Building on this appointment, the city plans to utilize actor Lee Ki-young's extensive experience in arts and culture and his approachable image to more broadly promote Bucheon's cultural contents—including comics and films like the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN)—as well as the city's various policies.
"It is deeply meaningful to take on the role of goodwill ambassador for Bucheon, South Korea's representative cultural city," Lee expressed regarding his appointment. "Based on the experience I have accumulated as an actor, I will promote the charm of Bucheon to a wider audience and communicate closely with its citizens."
Bucheon Mayor Cho Yong-ek stated, "Bucheon has grown into a cultural city by steadily investing in the cultural industry for over 30 years," adding, "We expect that actor Lee Ki-young, who has showcased deep and profound acting across various works, will play a major role as a goodwill ambassador in widely spreading Bucheon's cultural value."
