SEOUL—Global pop icons BTS are reportedly preparing for a monumental comeback in 2026, marking their full-group return from mandatory military service with a highly anticipated new album and their largest-ever world tour. The news, originating from industry sources including a report by Bloomberg, has sent waves of excitement through their dedicated global fanbase, known as ARMY, signaling the definitive end of the group's temporary performance hiatus.
The septet—comprising RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook—are rumored to be planning an ambitious world tour featuring approximately 65 performances across major international cities. Critically, over 30 of these shows are expected to take place in North America, a scale that surpasses any of their previous touring efforts and underscores the sheer magnitude of the planned endeavor. This itinerary would make it the most ambitious tour in the group’s history.
The foundation of the comeback timeline is the expected release of their first full-group album in six years, reportedly scheduled for late March 2026. This musical milestone is possible because all seven members have now successfully completed their mandatory military duties, with rapper Suga being the last to discharge in June of the previous year. The group’s final full-group performance took place in April 2022 in Las Vegas, after which the members focused on solo projects and enlistment. The upcoming album and tour represent not just a reunion, but a fresh, post-service chapter for the K-pop powerhouse.
If the 2026 World Tour is confirmed in its rumored scale, industry experts anticipate it will be one of the most financially successful concert runs in music history. The group’s prior concert runs between 2015 and 2022 generated an estimated $300 million in gross revenue, according to Pollstar, a figure experts widely consider conservative given uncounted performances. This massive tour is expected to shatter those figures.
Adding fuel to the speculation are persistent, unofficial reports hinting at a diverse array of tour stops. Alleged leaked touring data suggests the tour could include a long-awaited debut in South Asia, with the megacity of Mumbai, India, being specifically mentioned. This has sparked a particular frenzy among Indian fans, who recall that a concert in the country was planned for the group's canceled 2020 "Map of the Soul" tour. Recent strategic expansion efforts by HYBE in the Indian market further suggest this long-held promise might finally be fulfilled.
In response to the widespread reports, the group’s label, BigHit Music, a subsidiary of HYBE, has issued a cautious clarification. While the agency did not deny the existence of comeback plans, it stated that details regarding the dates and scale of the new world tour "remain unconfirmed," and specifically noted that the numbers being reported "are not the latest number we are discussing." Fans are advised to wait for the official itinerary, but the anticipation remains at an all-time high. The global music industry is now on high alert, awaiting the official announcement of the 2026 World Tour and the tracklist of their new, historic album.
