Ahead of the 1st Korea-Central Asia Summit to be held in Seoul this September, an event allowing citizens to directly experience the cultures of five Central Asian countries was held at Cheonggye Plaza.

The Preparation Committee for the Korea-Central Asia Summit under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a promotional event for the 1st Korea-Central Asia Summit on the 26th at Cheonggye Plaza in Jung-gu, Seoul, under the theme of "Silk Road, Encounter."

This event was designed to wish for the successful hosting of the 1st Korea-Central Asia Summit, scheduled for September 16 in Seoul, communicate directly with citizens, and raise public interest in the summit.

Various programs friendly introducing the cultures of five Central Asian countries—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan—were featured at the event.

Citizens enjoyed various experiences, such as viewing traditional costumes from each country, participating in a Central Asian quiz using kiosks, and taking four-cut photos against backgrounds of symbols from each country. Tea, symbolizing Central Asia's warm hospitality culture, was also served so that citizens could experience local culture up close.

Chung Eui-hye, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and head of the Preparation Committee for the Korea-Central Asia Summit, stated, “I hope this promotional event served as a precious opportunity for many citizens to approach and comfortably experience the attractive culture of Central Asia in their daily spaces.”

She added, “We will do our utmost during the remaining period so that the summit held in Seoul on September 16 goes beyond a formal diplomatic event between nations, becoming an opportunity for the youths—the future leaders of both regions—and our citizens to exchange hearts and deepen their friendship.”
