Chungnam Province held the final briefing for the 32nd Chungnam Provincial Para-Games at the Cheonan Stadium complex on the 20th to thoroughly inspect the overall preparation and operational status of the event.
The briefing, chaired by Administrative Vice Governor Hong Jong-wan, was attended by key officials from the province, Cheonan City, the Chungnam Provincial Paralympic Committee, the Cheonan City Paralympic Committee, and the event management agency.
Attendees shared Cheonan City’s progress report and the official event operation plan from the agency, discussing preparation details by sector and areas needing reinforcement ahead of the opening ceremony.
Following the meeting, officials visited the Cheonan Stadium main stadium and the Cheonan Indoor Tennis Court to inspect the setup of the opening ceremony and welcome reception venues, key facilities, movement routes, and safety management measures.
The province plans to address any shortcomings identified during the briefing and site inspection before the opening of the games, strengthening cooperative networks among related organizations to ensure that athletes and spectators can participate safely and conveniently.
The 32nd Chungnam Provincial Para-Games will take place over a three-day period from the 29th to the 31st across Cheonan City. An estimated 20,000 people are expected to participate, including around 5,400 athletes from 15 cities and counties in the province, along with officials and local residents.
The games will feature a total of 22 events, including 16 official sports (such as track and field, weightlifting, table tennis, and badminton), 2 demonstration sports, and 4 exhibition sports.
Among them, 14 events will be operated as "Harmony Sports" where both individuals with and without disabilities participate together, adding greater meaning to unity and communication.
In particular, the opening ceremony held at the Cheonan Stadium main stadium on the 29th will showcase a variety of programs, including performances by a para-arts traditional percussion troupe and choir, the entry of athletes from the 15 cities and counties, the lighting of the torch, and a drone show.
A provincial official stated, "We are doing our utmost in preparations so that this competition can become a festival of harmony where people with and without disabilities blend together. We will thoroughly inspect all fields during the remaining period so that athletes can fully display the skills they have honed in a safe environment."
