Attracting over 5,000 visitors across four days, Sejong successfully highlights upcoming events including the 2027 Sejong Hangeul Biennale.

The Hangeul Culture City Center under the Sejong Cityis Culture and Tourism Foundation announced that it participated in the National Culture Cities Expo held in Miryang from September 10 to 13, promoting the theme "Sejong, a Hangeul Cultural City Connecting the World." During the expo, the center introduced Sejong’s diverse Hangeul-related cultural spaces and programs, fostering active exchanges among local governments.

At the exhibition site, the center showcased the "Hangeul Culture City Sejong Map," which provides a comprehensive overview of the city's key cultural spots. An interactive event called "Finding Young Sejong Choongnyeong" using the map received enthusiastic responses from attendees. Over the four-day event, approximately 5,000 visitors explored the Sejong booth, completely depleting the promotional merchandise prepared by the organizers. Many visitors expressed surprise and admiration, noting, "We previously thought of Sejong strictly as an administrative city, but we discovered it offers a rich array of cultural spaces and events." They showed active interest in Sejong’s exhibition programs and cultural merchandise.

Special attention was also given to major cultural initiatives scheduled for this year, marking the meaningful 100th anniversary of Hangeul Day. Ongoing projects such as the media art exhibition "Sejong: Saejong" and "Gallery Day", along with the upcoming special Hangeul Day exhibition "Sejong and Nam June" opening on October 9, and the anticipated "Sejong Hangeul Biennale" slated for 2027, drew significant attention by presenting a continuous stream of attractive cultural contents unique to Sejong.

Building on the momentum of this expo, the Hangeul Culture City Center plans to spread the experience of "discovering Sejong anew through Hangeul culture" nationwide. The overarching vision is to transcend Sejong's status as a mere administrative capital, allowing culture to complete the urban landscape and enabling citizens and visitors to encounter culture seamlessly in their daily lives.

Yang Yoo-jung, Director of the Hangeul Culture City Center, stated, "As culture cities nationwide gathered at the expo with their respective unique cultural resources, Sejong sought to communicate its identity and future through Hangeul during this profound year of the 100th Hangeul Day anniversary. We hope this expo introduced Sejong's diverse cultural spaces and contents to those who haven't visited yet, and we invite everyone to experience culture and Hangeul firsthand in Sejong this autumn."
