The Vietnamese national baseball team has officially embarked on a transformative journey under a new leadership system. On September 14, the Vietnam Baseball and Softball Federation (VBSF) hosted an official appointment ceremony and press conference at the Daewoo Hotel in Hanoi to introduce Yoo Jae-ho as the new head manager of the national team.

The high-profile event drew a wide array of distinguished guests, including key figures from the Vietnamese sports sector, representatives from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam, the Korean Cultural Center, the Hanoi branch of the Korea Sport & Olympic Committee, the Korean Chamber of Commerce, and local corporate leaders. The ceremony commenced with opening and welcoming remarks, followed by an introductory video highlighting Manager Yoo’s professional baseball background, his extensive coaching experience, and his profound, long-standing relationship with the development of baseball in Vietnam. 

During the official appointment segment, Bùi Thị Hà Giang, representing the VBSF secretariat, presented Manager Yoo with his official letter of appointment, accompanied by a symbolic jersey presentation ceremony.

In his inaugural address, Manager Yoo reflected on his eight-year connection with Vietnamese baseball. Drawing from his close observation of local players, aspiring coaches, and youth learning the sport from the ground up, he outlined a comprehensive vision for the future. He emphasized that his goal extends beyond the senior national team; he aims to build a solid developmental foundation that bridges youth programs with elite competition. 

Manager Yoo also expressed his commitment to sharing his coaching expertise acquired in South Korea with the local sporting community, thereby fostering bilateral sports exchanges between the two nations. He stressed the importance of creating an environment where players can cultivate national pride and actively challenge themselves on the international stage. Furthermore, addressing the practical hurdles facing the program, he underscored the urgent need for continuous institutional support and corporate sponsorship. Because stable financial backing remains limited, international tournament participation often poses logistical and financial challenges, making collaborative interest from relevant organizations and businesses vital. 

"Today marks a meaningful starting point as we strive to elevate Vietnamese baseball to new heights," Manager Yoo stated. "I am fully dedicated to growing alongside our players and contributing significantly to strengthening sports diplomacy and cooperative ties between Korea and Vietnam."

Local media outlets covering the event highlighted that Manager Yoo’s appointment represents a critical turning point for the sport in Southeast Asia. Much like the monumental success achieved by Korean football managers like Park Hang-seo and Kim Sang-sik in Vietnam, expectations are running high that Manager Yoo can spark a "K-Baseball" boom. Moving forward, the new coaching staff will focus on sharpening the team’s competitive edge through systematic training regimens and preparing the roster for upcoming international competitions, raising hopes for the sustainable growth and global competitiveness of Vietnamese baseball.
