A scene from an Afghan market

I wonder if this woman's hometown isn't England. The saffron tea she is drinking is popular mainly in Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and elsewhere. In the past, saffron was more expensive than gold. Even today, it remains a premium ingredient. Abroad, saffron is used when making high-end biryani. The kimchi biryani I developed doesn't use saffron because there's no reason to.
Afghanistan is a place I really want to visit, and I've heard colorful stories from international students and travelers from there. Much of it is completely different from the image we hold. What's interesting is that because there are no pigs in Afghanistan, the citizens don't even know the word "pig" and wouldn't recognize a picture of one.
