The number of travelers coming to South Korea from Caribbean coastal nations is also on the rise. Among them, a significant number are of Indian descent. Most are descendants of people who were taken from India as slaves during the British colonial era. Most people do not talk about the fact that their ancestors went as slaves.
This traveler, however, proudly shared their family story, mentioning that their own grandfather was taken to the Caribbean as a slave during British colonial times. Isn't the ability to share such a story a reflection of the confidence they have in their current life? Aren't more than half of South Korea's own citizens descendants of slaves (nobi) from the Joseon Dynasty?
