HÀ NỘI – Hà Nội has approved a comprehensive plan to manage the city's surveillance camera system, which includes the installation of 40,000 new cameras citywide.
The plan, signed by Deputy Chairman of the Hà Nội's People's Committee Hà Minh Hải, outlines the installation of over 23,700 cameras for security and order, nearly 16,250 cameras for traffic safety, and approximately 230 cameras for defense purposes.
This project, to be implemented from 2025 to 2030, aims to enhance the Traffic Police Department's Traffic Operation Center and the Hà Nội Traffic Police Division, as directed by the Prime Minister.
The initiative will support management in various fields while effectively monitoring and maintaining security and order throughout the city.
Of the 40,000 new surveillance cameras, 12,000 will be PTZ cameras (pan-tilt-zoom cameras with directional control and zooming capabilities), while approximately 28,000 will be fixed cameras.
Funding for the installation will come from the State budget, mobilized capital sources, and other lawful funding channels. The city encourages funding contributions from organizations and individuals to support the deployment of the surveillance camera system.
Currently, Hà Nội operates approximately 19,400 surveillance cameras, including nearly 4,000 PTZ cameras and 16,000 fixed cameras. Around 100 locations, including gateways and key routes, are already equipped with surveillance cameras to monitor traffic and maintain order within the city.
