SEOUL — Seong Gyeong Foods, the maker of the widely-known ‘Jidopyo Seong Gyeong Kim’ seaweed, has unveiled a unique collaboration product, the "Seong Gyeong Kim MagSafe Power Bank," to further its steadfast support for South Korea's Dokdo islands. This move comes after the company’s highly publicized 2021 decision to cease exports to Japan rather than comply with an importer's request to remove the Dokdo image from its packaging, cementing its reputation as a ‘Dokdo-devoted enterprise.’

The new power bank, developed in partnership with the digital IT brand Miniduct and available through KakaoTalk Gifting, boasts an ultra-light design (5000mAh, 0.79cm thick, 103g), cleverly mirroring the thinness of its namesake product, kim (seaweed). The device is compatible with both Android and iPhone wireless charging models and meets international carry-on baggage standards (18Wh).

Crucially, Seong Gyeong Foods announced that 2% of the profits from the power bank sales will be donated to the Dokdo Coast Guard. This act continues the brand’s history of unwavering Dokdo advocacy, which includes using a Korean Peninsula map (with Dokdo marked) for its registered trademark and launching various awareness campaigns since 2017. The company maintains its firm historical stance, stating, "We would rather stop exporting to Japan than erase Dokdo."

In related news, the Daejeon-based company is hosting a pop-up store at Daejeon Station until the end of October. The store is selling four types of its special 'Dokdo Edition'—which features a typeface 复刻ed from the handwriting of independence activist and poet Yun Dong-ju—at up to 45% off, timed to commemorate Dokdo Day on October 25th. The promotion reinforces the company's commitment to its brand philosophy beyond its core food products.
