Medellín, Colombia – Grupo Argos, Cementos Argos, and Grupo Sura have once again been included in the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for 2024, reaffirming their commitment to sustainability.

This recognition positions these Colombian companies among the world's most sustainable, highlighting their exceptional environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.

The announcement comes at a historic moment as Argos and Sura signed a spin-off agreement, allowing each conglomerate to focus on its core business. This marks the end of a 46-year history of cross-holdings between the two groups, a hallmark of the Antioqueño Business Group (GEA).

In the DJSI evaluation, Cementos Argos achieved an outstanding score of 89 out of 100, securing the top spot globally in the construction materials sector and reaching the 100th percentile. Grupo Argos followed closely with 85 points, ranking as the second most sustainable company in the industry and achieving a 99th percentile.

"In our 90-year history, we have demonstrated that creating value can go hand in hand with collective well-being and environmental care," said Jorge Mario Velásquez, president of Grupo Argos. "This result is not just a medal; it is a reaffirmation of our institutional conviction to do things right."

Beyond the Numbers

The achievements of these companies extend beyond numerical scores. Cementos Argos excelled in key areas such as water and energy management, industrial safety and occupational health, and cybersecurity. These aspects are crucial in a sector seeking to balance economic growth with environmental protection.

Grupo Argos, meanwhile, obtained maximum scores in fiscal responsibility, transparency, biodiversity, and human rights, demonstrating its leadership in promoting strong ESG practices.

For 13 consecutive years, the companies of the Grupo Empresarial Argos have maintained their presence in the DJSI, a testament to their focus on generating integral value.

Grupo Sura: Growing in Sustainability

Grupo Sura was also recognized in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices Pacific Alliance MILA 2024, earning a score of 69 out of 100, two points higher than in 2023. This result positions the company above 98% of organizations in its sector: Diversified Financial Services.

"We value these ratings as an opportunity to continue growing profitably and sustainably," said Ricardo Jaramillo Mejía, president of Grupo Sura. "This evaluation benchmarks us against investor and market standards."
